A Commencement Address

The knowledge that you have emerged wiser and stronger from setbacks means that you are, ever after, secure in your ability to survive. You will never truly know yourself, or the strength of your relationships, until both have been tested by adversity. Such knowledge is a true gift, for all that it is painfully won, and it has been worth more to me than any qualification I ever earned.

JK Rowling at Harvard University

FROM THE ASSOCIATED PRESS: J.K. Rowling stressed the crucial importance of imagination during a speech Thursday at Harvard University’s spring commencement, saying, “We do not need magic to transform our world.”

The “Harry Potter” author also spoke about the benefit of failure, recalling the humiliations of her time in poverty before her career took off with her string of novels about a bespectacled boy wizard. Read the rest of the article here.

‘Yes, it was a magical talk’ according to Corydon Ireland of Harvard News Office.

Joyful and Triumphant Everytime

Change has a considerable psychological impact on the human mind. To the fearful it is threatening because it means that things may get worse. To the hopeful it is encouraging because things may get better. To the confident it is inspiring because the challenge exists to make things better. *King Whitney Jr.*

If you don’t like something, change it. If you can’t change it, change your attitude. Don’t complain. *Maya Angelou*

Vision without action is merely a dream. Action without vision just passes the time. Vision with action can change the world. *Joel Barker*

Change is the essence of life. Be willing to surrender what you are, for what you could become.

Countdown

A timely message lifted from Fr. Jerry’s Moments for all of us…

“Do not look back in anger; do not look look forward in fear; look around in anticipapation and love.”

To those I have wronged, I ask for forgiveness. To those I may have helped, I wish I did more; to those who have hlped me, I want to say thanks!
